There are several different types of programs that fit under the heading of outpatient. One would be Intensive Outpatient ( IOP ) treatment programs which typically are three to five sessions per week, and for two to four hours per session. Another treatment option would be partial hospitalization and day treatment, which which would require the patient to go to a treatment facility during the days and participate in the daily treatment regimen, then return home. Abstemious does not provide partial hospitalization services.
Standard outpatient is usually less frequent, one to two days a week, and one to two hours at each of those sessions.
At Abstemious, we have outpatient programs available day and evenings. Intensive Outpatient programs are from two to three hours per session, and three days a week. The intensive phase of treatment is usually for a total of 72 hours. Individual counseling sessions are one hour per session and scheduled by the counselor.
These groups / classes are a combination of discussion groups, education, and individual sessions. The best way to gain from the groups is to start with an open mind. We realize people are scared in their first session. Our counselor will slowly involve you more in discussion as the timing is right.
Relapse by definition would be when a person has had a sustained period of sobriety and begins their use again. Abstemious can individualize a level of care based on the individual needs.
